I absolutely love that my profession allows me to work with and get to know so many wonderful people. Because orthodontic treatment usually takes about two years, and I see each patient regularly, I get to build really strong connections with patients and their families. Being from the south, it’s just part of our culture and we all become friends!
Professionally, I am most passionate about creating healthy, beautiful smiles and seeing the newfound confidence in my patients. I am excited to head to the office each morning, because I know I will see incredible smiles emerging and the change in each patient’s self-esteem.
My team shares my dedication to high-quality patient care and a true love for our patients and their families. I would not be where I am without each of them: They keep the practice running smoothly, ensure we are ready to provide the best atmosphere and personalized experience, and always have smiles on their faces!
Education, Continual Learning, and Professional Affiliations
I earned both my dental and orthodontic degrees from Louisiana State University: my Doctorate of Dental Surgery was awarded in 1999 and my orthodontic degree in 2001.
Dental school and orthodontic training provided a solid understanding of oral health, the biomechanics of tooth movement, and aesthetic considerations. That said, so much about the specialty has changed during the nearly 20 years since I opened the practice. Everything has advanced, from initial diagnostics to treatment planning and procedures, to say nothing of the new technologies, materials, and techniques!
Staying at the forefront of the latest developments, and evaluating the corresponding research, allows me and my team to provide the most efficient, comfortable, and effective care.
I am an active member of the:
- American Association of Orthodontists
- Southwestern Society of Orthodontists
- Louisiana Association of Orthodontists
- American Dental Association
- Louisiana Dental Association
- Acadiana District Dental Association
Through these organizations, I have access to numerous continuing educational opportunities. With conferences, seminars, lectures, and many refereed journals and other publications, I learn from the leading practitioners and researchers in orthodontics and general dentistry.
Beyond the Practice
I was raised in Belle Chasse, and have resided in Lafayette for almost two decades. Time with my wife Ann, my two children, Hayes and Anna Claire, and our beloved family dog, Emily, is my priority when I’m not in the office.
